Forever Golf Days: A Game-Changing Idea for Golfers and Carers

Where did the idea come from?

“It started following a conversation with carers,” the founder Anthony Blackburn shares. “They were juggling ferrying their partners to different exercise and support groups, as well as golf, and finding it really stressful to manage.

They said, ‘It would be great if we could do it all in one place.’ That was the lightbulb moment.”

Inspired by this, a partnership was formed with Matthew O’Sullivan from Active North Yorkshire to integrate exercise and wellbeing sessions into existing golf days.

After designing an outline of the service and presenting it to carers, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Since September, the Forever Golf Days at Rudding Park have become a resounding success, benefiting both golfers and carers.

The program has been described as a “Godsend” by participants, with one carer saying, “I wish he could come every day.”

Due to its success, the service will expand to additional days in the New Year with hopes to roll out across all venues.

It’s a shining example of how thoughtful ideas can bring meaningful change to lives.
