The Inspiration Behind Golf in Society

One person can make a difference, and everyone should try

Anthony Blackburn – Founder of Golf in Society

I lost my dad twelve years ago. He loved his sport. When he passed away, it got me thinking that there must be lots of other people like my dad, who just need a little support to keep enjoying sport later in life. This was the moment my social dream began.

In 2015 I delivered my first dementia friendly golf session, fast forward to 2022 with over 1000 golf sessions successfully delivered, hundreds of lives transformed, proof of concept established, my desire to help more people like dad burns brighter than ever.

Every time we host a golf session, not only do we spark people into life, we also make them feel special. These priceless moments, coupled with the testimonials we receive, provide us with all the evidence needed to realise that our social mission is making the difference to people’s lives we dreamed about.

As the nation emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for our services is greater than ever before. With inactivity, loneliness, depression and poor mental health all at record levels, it’s time for everyone to step up and make a difference.

This is exactly why it’s the perfect time to crack on and make my social mission a reality… The call to action has never resonated so loudly.

If we don’t starting acting now, the consequences for the health of our nation will be far worse than any pandemic.

This is exactly why our social mission will take a huge step forward this year by launching new age-friendly golf venues throughout the UK.

By doing so, we’ll provide opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable adults in society to get their lives back on track.

That’s why we’re busy preparing a Spring full of hope, happiness and brightness for the families we support.

“if you keep doing the right things, for the right reason often enough, then believe me, amazing things will happen”
