Welcome to Golf in Society

Join our social movement #Transforminglives

At Golf in Society we specialise in transforming the lives of our ageing population by introducing them to the wonderful game of golf. Here’s an insight into the difference we make.

Highlights for 2021

By putting golf clubs at the heart of local communities we create opportunities for people living with chronic illnesses such as Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Stroke, Loneliness, and Depression to discover a happier, healthier life with golf at the heart of it. Our sessions also provide Regular, Reliable, Respite time for unpaid carers.

Our Social Mission

Here’s a brief introduction to our social mission by our founder, Anthony Blackburn.

“Our lives begin to end when we become silent about the things that really matter in life” . Dr Martin Luther King

Personalised Golf Experiences

Everything we do is designed in partnership with the families we support. By co-designing every aspect of our Discover Golf programmes (TM) and Carers Wellbeing Events (TM) programmes, we create life-enhancing experiences that ignite the “sporting spark” in people living with chronic illness as well as providing their unpaid carers with a regular, reliable break that allows them to improve their own health and happiness.

The Difference We Make

One of the best ways to understand how important our services have become to the families we support is to watch the two videos below:

Not only will we be offering our inspirational golf sessions, we’ll also be delivering our Carers Wellbeing Events that focus on supporting unpaid carers improve their own health, wellbeing & resilience.

Social Enterprises leading the way in Healthy Ageing

Since we started six years ago we’ve faced many challenges, some of which at the time seemed insurmountable. However, we’ve always managed to find a way forward. This is why we passionately believe that social entrepreneurs have a critical role to play in solving the Healthy Ageing crisis facing our nation.

Here’s an insight from our founder into the importance of social enterprises in the ageing population space.

Helen Crampton – Healthy Ageing lead – UKRI in conversation with Anthony

So, as the world contemplates how to build a happier, healthier, brighter future for older adults, at Golf in Society we’re ready and willing to play a bigger role in transforming lives.

  1. I think this is absolutely brilliant! This is very close to my heart. How is it coming with the first dementia friendly golf club in Glasgow? I’d like to see if there are any potential ways to support that initiative!

    1. Good morning Kirsty. Thank you for those kind words. Glasgow is going really well and we are now getting referrals in from health professionals. We are always interested in talking to like-minded people about how we can work together. Why not send us an email or ring us. Our number is 07491694938 and email is golfinsociety@gmail.com. Look forward to speaking to you. Anthony
